Brian Pokora’s #3: Bastard Mountain – Farewell Bastard Mountain

Farewell, Bastard Mountain

(Released 12th May on Song, by Toad Records)

Absolutely gutted. That’s the only way to describe how I still feel about missing what is likely Bastard Mountain’s only Edinburgh show. Sure at the time I was seeing Arcade Fire, Moderat and Neutral Milk Hotel but after seeing pictures and hearing Do The Gods Speak Esperanto were supporting I wish I could’ve been at both. This feeling is sticking around for so long because of how ridiculously great this album is, but then what else would you expect from an album comprising of musicians who’ve created some of my favourite records. If you’ve not heard Farewell, Bastard Mountain yet I highly recommend the vinyl edition, I’ve not listened to it as much as the digital but the way the tracks run into each other is pretty unique and it’s something you miss out on digitally.
